First responders, many of them just everyday folks, helping their neighbors long before the trained rescue organizations were on their way. God rejoices in seeing people coming together to help those in need.
Individuals and families were forced to leave their homes and also the city. Some of those who evacuated did so voluntarily before the mandatory evacuation. They fled near and far, often to families or friends but wherever they decided to stay, they were met with lots of assistance.
Crisis Ministries and other Irving non-profits immediately took to calling on supporters for additional items needed to support an increase in clients. We had much of the food we needed so we initially requested hygiene products then added non-perishables and financial assistance. Some people dropping off items said they had never given before but saw our sign and wanted to do something.
Supporters met the needs especially with the donation of hygiene products. Some families worked together to provide hygiene products with notes of encouragement attached.
Thank you friends and families for demonstrating love.
